Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO “Would Have Been Shelved” Without the Movie’s Success
SEED FREEDOM ZERO was announced at a special Gundam event. The show’s director, Mitsuo Fukuda, the actor who voices the character Kira Yamato (Soichiro Hoshi), and the producer, Hisakazu Naka, were all there to share the big news.
Director Fukuda said this new show might never have been made if the Gundam SEED Freedom movie hadn’t been a hit. “If the movie hadn’t been so popular, this project would probably have been put away for good,” he said.
Fukuda also shared that some of the ideas for SEED FREEDOM ZERO have been around for more than 20 years! The show’s script is already finished, and parts of it were even used in the Gundam SEED Freedom movie. Fans can look forward to seeing new scenes and storylines that fill the gaps between the two shows.
Plot Overview of Gundam SEED
SEED FREEDOM ZERO won’t be a full sequel or spinoff to the other Gundam SEED shows. Director Fukuda called it a “breather” between SEED Destiny and the Freedom movie. It will show fans what was happening before the movie. It will answer questions like, “What was going on during this part of the story?””
The show’s format (whether it will be a TV series or a movie) is still being determined, but the voice recording is already done. This means the new Gundam anime is well on its way to completion.
